I odnt know how many of you have been up on the news but there is a huge prisonel exchange set to happen tommorow where chizbalah will hand over the bodies of 3 pow's and another kidnapped citizen and israel will release over 450 prisoners that are palestinians and about 300 others from lebanon syria and other places. This seems a bit excessive but can also improve ties with chizbalah and also can lead to information about ron arad, a pow captured in the 80's. I wanted to know your thoughts on the exchange and also if you feel that it will accompliush more than just bringing back bodies to israel.

i think this will be a terrible move for israel. THe "citizen" that is being returned is a drug dealer and someone told me that he will most liekly go to jail is in israeli hands. second of all this will NOT improve relations with hizballah. it will just teach them that they can free hundreds of terrorists by kidnapping israeli soldiers. it will not improve our relationship with them, it will encourage them to kidnap more soldiers. THird of all, the arad family is opposed to trading terrorists for information about ron. and furthermore i dont see how the israeli government exchange hundreds of terrorists, convicted of murders, when the family of ron arad is opposed to giving back terrorists.

well i have to step in and disagree and agree with you on a few points. First of all, there is no arrest in place for him or anything like that(see haaretz newspaper). second of all, there is no confirmed evidence that he is a drug dealer, just one of the tabloid things that got too far. Thirdly, none of the palestinians had more than a year and a half on their sentance, in other words none were sentenced to life or had killed anyone. Another thing is that if israel sees more soldiers kidnapped, they wont fall into the same trap again. something else will be worked out. I have to agree with you on the fact that maybe it is too much but seriously, these guys arent senior terrorists and even if they do go back to terrorism, 400 people in addition to millions is not a big deal.

hizbalah does NOT have a million members. i know u meant millions of arabs but the fact of the matter is more terrorists means more attacks

also to quote the Jerusalem Post talking about the exchange for information about Ron Arad: "In exchange, Israel would then release Samir Kuntar, a Lebanese who headed a Palestinian terrorist squad that infiltrated Nahariya in 1979 and was responsible for the deaths of Danny Hanan, his two daughters, Einat, four, and Yael, two, and policeman Eliahu Shahar. i agree in most part with emancipateyourself. i think that this will foster the belief that capturing our soldiers will lead to the release of many prisoners. as well, as much as i would like to see their return to their families, i think that the soldiers z"l would prefer to know that the people who they were defending, to their deaths, are safer and that their bodies not be returned, then to have died in vain, actually causing a greater danger to their country. unfortunately, only time will time the detriments of this deal.

ya i guess, that wat i was saying was more out of hope than reality. And also about kuntar hes in the second part of the exchange, right now i was only talking about the first.
